IMPORTANT: Email Security

Hello All,

We are constantly looking for ways to fortify our email delivery system in order to prevent phishing emails and other spam from entering our environment, which could potentially leave us vulnerable to a cyber-attack.  A new product that we are going to implement, Proofpoint, will help us limit these vulnerabilities.  Proofpoint is an email protection system that blocks phishing, spam, and viruses from reaching your inbox. Each day, throughout the day, you will receive a Proofpoint Essentials – Quarantine Digest that will show emails that have been quarantined by Proofpoint. Within this email you will have the ability to:

• Preview – Allows the user to preview the message(s) that was quarantined.
• Release Email – Allows the user to release a specific email from a sender one time.  This release function does not update the Proofpoint Essentials spam learning engine and does not create any rules in relation to the sender.
• Release & Approve – Allows the user to have the desired message released immediately and inform Proofpoint Essentials to create a Whitelist (Allow) rule between the sender and recipient so that mail will not be qualified as Spam from this sender in the future. It further helps the Proofpoint Essentials engine learn that this sender is not a spammer.
• Block – Adds the sender to the blocked sender list to ensure these messages are blocked regardless of content in the future.
• Request New Digest – Requests the latest version of the digest to be delivered to your inbox.

The first Digest will be sent at 7:00AM and it will continue to be sent every four hours daily. Also, if you know someone has sent you an email in-between the four-hour interval and you haven’t received it, you will then need to go back to a previous digest and select Request new digest. Once you receive the new digest, the email that you were expecting to be delivered should be located there. Below is an example of a digest email:
