Celebrating Juneteenth!

It’s been one year since Juneteenth National Independence Day, June 19, was recognized as the twelfth federal holiday.

Recognizing this day is one step on a long path the US is taking towards promoting equality for all its citizens. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers brought the news of freedom to enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas — more than 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation freed enslaved people in the United States.

It’s the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was created in 1983.

Please take time to consider what Juneteenth means to you, to our customers, and to your fellow CMA owners. Think about what we each can do to live our mission of Moving Lives Forward.

Locally, CMA’s Colonial Honda was a proud sponsor of the Juneteenth Freedom Celebration at Hardywood Brewery in Richmond yesterday. The celebration included live bands, DJs, food trucks & local vendors. All proceeds from the event will be donated to local Black owned businesses.
