CMA’s Subaru of Winchester + Subaru Loves Learning Event

CMA’S Subaru of Winchester surprised teachers and students at Orchard View Elementary School with a $17,500 donation during a schoolwide celebration. The donation includes a $10,000 to fund more than 150 different types of flexible seating, and the remaining $7,500, made in collaboration AdoptAClassroom.org, will go straight to teachers to purchase school supplies for the year.

The donation was made as part of Subaru Loves Learning, a national Subaru of America, Inc. initiative that helps supply high-need classrooms across the country with school supplies and resources. In addition to providing teachers with money to purchase needed school supplies, the donation from CMA’S Subaru of Winchester provides 155 flexible seating options to K-5 classrooms, including flex space premium floor seats, soft seat floor cushions and an assortment of different sized wobble chairs.

“At CMA’S Subaru of Winchester, we want to help our local teachers and students get the supplies and resources they need, and when we asked students what they needed in the classroom to succeed, they told us flexible seating,” said Bobby Williams, general manager. “Giving back to our local community and living the Subaru Love Promise is an essential component of our operations, and we’re thrilled to provide this support.”

With flexible seating, traditional desk-and-chair combinations are replaced with a variety of seating options that allow for student choice and versatility throughout the classroom. This gives students the flexibility and comfort to stay focused during class, leading to increased student engagement and improved behavior.

“The continued support from CMA’S Subaru of Winchester and the Subaru Loves Learning initiative over the years is greatly appreciated by Orchard View Elementary teachers, students and families,” said Rachel Rinker, principal. “We are so excited to be able to provide our students with these flexible seating options, along with other needed supplies, to allow them to control the environment in which they work best.”

This is the eighth year CMA’s Subaru of Winchester has partnered with Orchard View Elementary School and is part of a year-round commitment to the local community including partnerships with SPCA of Winchester, Frederick and Clarke Counties, Valley Health and more.
