CMA’s Green Team Continues To Push Towards A Green Future

In this month’s Green Team meeting, our general focus was on the importance of proper recycling and waste reduction. We were once again joined by Michael Kruse, from Evergreen Recycling, who presented his findings on creating a recycling system for cardboard, paper, bottles, and cans across all dealerships. He did a deep dive on the CMA campus in Charlottesville and had visual examples of areas to improve and tips for the rest of the team to take at their dealerships.

Michael reviewed the importance of proper recycling and trash separation. The key being clearly labeled recycling bins that are located throughout the office, sales area, and break rooms to ensure consistency. The team was tasked with discussing our efforts with the cleaning crews to ensure they are aware of their role to divert all recycling materials from landfill waste.

Additionally, it is crucial to have enough capacity for cardboard recycling and scrap metal collection as they take a tremendous amount of energy to produce by saving 70% of energy required when recycled.

Michael acknowledged the efforts the team has already made towards sustainability while continuing to push forward towards a green future.
