CMA’s Q1 Philanthropy Recap!

Let’s take a look at how each market embraced our Q1 Philanthropy initiative, #GearedUpforLearning!

Williamsburg

Collected over 100 supplies and $1475 from the dealership for Stonehouse Elementary School.

Winchester

Talking with the teachers, we realized that food was the biggest issue for students. During the holidays and weekends, most kids struggle to have sufficient food available. We decided to make a monthly commitment of a least $600.00. This includes canned corn, green beans, peas, mac and cheese, spaghetti o’s, granola and snack bars, fruit drinks, milk, fruit bowls, applesauce ,fruit roll ups, and some special snacks that were kids only. Each month we change up what we get so we cover everything needed.

Lynchburg

Donated a Clear touch interactive learning tv, an all-weather shed and gym equipment to Boonsboro Elementary School.

Charlottesville

Collected 3,338 items to donate to Mountain View Elementary school which included glue sticks, composition notebooks, tissues, Clorox wipes, backpacks, etc. There was a big request for snacks for the Nurse’s office due to a high volume of students going every month to get something to eat.

Staunton

Collected 1503 items to donate to Riverheads Elementary School and $517.65 in round up dollars to donate to the Kindness book project.

The Kindness book project: One class was selected to have each student write a short piece and draw a picture of a time they did an act of kindness. Each of their sheets will be put together, to make a book and in the back there will be a pic from Valley about sharing a gift with their class. We will be making a copy of the book for each student to keep as their class stories of kindness. The cover has a dog on it, so there is a small 3 inch stuff animal dog named “Kindness” each kid will also receive as our act of kindness, so when they look at it they remember how good an act of kindness feels!

Martinsburg

Collected about $440 in donations for school supplies. Also will be giving a $1,000 check to each school. (All 6 Middle Schools in Berkeley County along with 1 Middle School in Morgan County)

Richmond

Donated to the Tussing Elementary School PTO fun run, donated an After Prom Party Car Care bucket for Prince George County Prom, purchased books for special needs students at Prince George County, purchased student technician shirts for the apprentice students at VA Randolph and a new jump box for the classroom. Fine Arts students displayed their artwork in the dealerships and they donated 7 podiums to display their 3D artwork for the Spring Fine Arts Showcase. They also had a touch a truck event at Lakeside Elementary School that allowed students to have a hands on experience with automobiles and dealership associates. They also had associates attend the Colonial Heights Technical Scoot Open House .

What an overwhelming level of CARE for our #GearedUpForLearning 1st Quarter Philanthropy initiative!!!
