Parents’ Night for Potential Apprentice Technicians

Friday, February 4th, CMA hosted 22 students and 5 chaperones for the very first CMA Day for ACE. ACE is the Advanced Career Education Center and this division works with students throughout Henrico county. The students in attendance were all 2nd year Auto Shop students that are eligible to work part-time the remainder of the school year.

The purpose of the day was for students and CMA to showcase one another. The students are considering applying to CMA’s Apprentice Tech Program. They have access to other dealer groups that support the ACE program, but CMA is the only one that invited them to spend the day!

The agenda included a tour of the dealership – Sales, Parts, Service, Lot– and the bulk of their time was spent with a Mentor Technician in the shop. Many students actually pitched in and got their hands dirty! The students had lunch with their CMA Service Manager and assigned techs.

As a follow-up event, CMA will be hosting Parents’ Nite at CMA’s Colonial Subaru on Tuesday Feb. 15th for parents of these and other students to come and learn about opportunities in Automotive and specifically CMA’s Tech Apprentice Program. The ACE principal and instructors have already emailed the invitation to the parents and we are starting to get RSVPs from family members.

Please share our Facebook Event and invite any other parents and teens who may be interested. This is a great opportunity for them and for CMA!

*Special thanks to Beth Lucchesi, CMA’s Talent Acquisition Specialist, for establishing CMA’s relationship with ACE and for organizing these events. You are a rockstar!
