Q: What are the CDC’s recommendations for preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses?

A: The CDC recommends staying home if you have respiratory symptoms, such as fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, or headache. Once your symptoms improve and you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours, you can return to work. For answers to frequently asked questions visit:

Q: What should I do if I’m feeling sick?

A: If you are experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness, please stay home and avoid contact with others. Notify your supervisor as soon as possible.

Q: What are CMA’s policies regarding absences due to illness?

A: According to our CMA Employee Handbook, associates are expected to give their manager at least 30 minutes’ notice before the start of their scheduled shift each day if they cannot work due to illness. A medical certification may be required for absences of more than three consecutive days.

Q: Are there any specific guidelines for returning to work after illness?

A: You can return to work once your symptoms have improved and you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours. However, once you have returned to work, you may also wish to observe recommended precautions for the next five days to minimize the risk of spreading the illness (see infographic).
