Where were you 20 years ago? Were you watching Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King? More than likely you were as it won 11 Oscars that year. Maybe you were one of the millions who bought a song on a new platform called iTunes. Or perhaps you celebrated (or lamented) the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California.
While those were all historically significant events, they were of no benefit for CMA. But there was one significant event that changed the course for CMA for the better: Twenty Years ago today, Liza Borches joined CMA.
Just imagine that for a moment! After working nearly 7 years for American Honda Motor company where she held 5 different positions calling on dealers from all over the country, she made the decision to take all that experience and join the company her great grandfather started back in 1924.
We are more than blessed that she reneged on her pledge to “never work for CMA”. Had she kept that vow, CMA might never have expanded our footprint beyond Charlottesville and Richmond. We may never have coordinated our naming structure to develop one strong CMA brand across all of central Virginia. And without her leadership we certainly would not have developed our true mission: to Move the Lives Forward of our associates, our customers and our communities.
That is a pretty impactful 20 years!
Happy 20th Anniversary Liza! We cannot imagine CMA without you.
Let’s keep #MovingLivesForward! 🚗🚗🚗
