Happy Juneteenth CMA!

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a significant day in American history that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free. This was more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation had legally freed slaves in the Southern states. Juneteenth represents a crucial moment of liberation and is a powerful reminder of the long and ongoing journey toward equality.
