Our employees spoke and we listened. Sometimes life events occur that require time away from work and you may or may not qualify for FMLA protected leave or have PTO available. To work to assist you during difficult times, CMA implemented two updates to our Employee Handbook this past year.
Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence
If you have been employed for at least six consecutive months, you may be granted an unpaid personal leave for up to 12 weeks if you are temporarily unable to work due to unusual, personal obligation of a serious nature or a serious health condition that prevents you from performing the essential functions of your position. Examples may include leave to care for a family member’s serious illness or family death where bereavement is not available.

Bereavement Leave
Associates shall be eligible to receive time off without pay in the event of death of a member of their immediate family. The immediate family is defined as a spouse, parent, child, or sibling. The period of absence may not exceed three days for one cause. Paid vacation benefits, if available, may be substituted in lieu of unpaid time off. Should more than three days be needed, they may be taken without pay, subject to the discretion of the manager. Funeral leave is to be used only for bereavement and managing personal matters associated with the death of a family member and must be taken during bereavement period at time of death.
