Well-being at the Holidays and all year long!

The holiday season is often described as the “most wonderful time of the year,” filled with festive celebrations, family gatherings, and moments of joy.

However, for many, this time of year can also bring a mix of stress, exhaustion, and pressure—whether from the demands of holiday shopping, travel, or the expectations of maintaining perfect holiday traditions.

With all of the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to lose sight of one of the most important aspects of the season: your own well-being. Mental and physical health are just as essential during the holidays as they are at any other time of year, and finding ways to prioritize self-care can make the difference between burnout and a truly rejuvenating holiday experience.

In this article, we’ll explore strategies for nurturing both your mind and body during the holiday season, helping you to approach this time with balance, joy, and a sense of peace. Our new Employee Assistance Program, ComPsych, offers many resources to help guide us.

A few Holiday-time Stress Reducing Tips:

  • Plan ahead- making lists and menus ahead of time can save time searching multiple stores at the last minute for the prefect item or missing ingredient
  • Learn to say no- Use a calendar to organize your holiday commitments to avoid over-booking yourself
  • Simplify- Nothing is perfect.  Placing too much emphasis on little details can cause unnecessary stress
  • Allow time to grieve- For those of us who have lost loved ones, the holidays can be tough. Allow time for grieving and remembering.  Sharing stories and even a few tears as a family can keep their spirit alive and strengthen family ties.
